Mercedes Corbell Design + Architecture (MCD+A) is an Oakland based architectural firm specializing in sustainable architectural design in the San Francisco Bay Area. The firm’s projects include renovations, new homes, residential and commercial interiors, and outdoor spaces. About Us
The principal, Mercedes Corbell, is a Certified Green Builder since 2003 (Build it Green) and a LEED AP since 2009 (US Green Building Council). She is a licensed architect with the state of California.The Associate Architect, Inga Sheffield, is also a Certified Green Builder (Build it Green). Her excellent sense of order and design contribute to each project’s success.
Our Approach
Our projects reflect our passion for the combination of beauty and function- we are practical artists. We work with our clients to help them clarify and hone their goals and needs so that the final project truly reflects what they’d dreamed of. We pride ourselves in our rigorous attention to cost, so that at each design stage we stop for a construction cost estimate. This way the project scope can be adapted to the project budget, all along the way.We work with our clients from the design through the construction project to ensure that the vision set at the start is realized to the end. We have a group of fantastic builders that we can refer our clients to should they wish.

In addition to our architectural services, we offer two types of consultations:Green Building and Interiors ConsultationsConsultations on green building and interior options, benefits, and costs Design ConsultationsOn site design consultations to owners looking for preliminary ideas and feedback on project feasibility. Cost estimates for design sketches if needed.
