February 2010
Greenhouse Brick and Mortar Campaign Launches.
We've launched our first "no-cost" marketing campaign!
Steve Lomprey designed and fabricating a counterstand (made from recycled cardboard)The promo along with our postcards can be seen at Ecohome Improvement (Thank you Taja) and will be seen around town soon.
Over the next few months we'll approach partners from Marin County to San Jose to place the stands on 20 eco-friendly countertops throughout the Bay Area. Businesses like Art's Automotive, Alameda Natural Grocery and Snow White Cleaners and many others are magnets to eco-friendly consumers who appreciate finding quality home green services. Best yet: This campaign is strictly Quid Pro Quo. No money will exchange hands....with their approval; we trade their counterspace for a Greenhouse Collective.com website page and everyone markets for free!

No Impact Man at our house.
Last month, our family decided to take on 10 rules to live a more sustainable life. The documentary "No Impact Man" was the impetus, and we are real supporters of what Colin Beavan is doing on his website. We'll update you from time to time to let you know how it's going.
Interested in trying it out for yourself? click here.
What, if anything have you decided to do to change your life to a more sustainable model?
Let us know if you're tackling the 10 rules and we may post your story in a future newsletter.
This is how we're doing so far:
- Eat your vegetables.
We became vegetarians last month thanks to my five year olds suggestion. Not only has our health improved and our grocery bill gone way down, but we also have become impassioned composters. I am really enjoying this change. I no longer look at our food scraps as garbage, but as "gold". - Drink from the tap.
No; we no longer buy bottled water but I'm still chronically dehydrated. - Observe an eco-Sabbath.
I really like this one but I havent decided how to do this yet. Stay tuned in future updates. - Tithe a fixed percentage of your income to your favorite non-profit.
Still clinging to our coin. I'm thinking of having the bank automatically place 2% of our income aside for now. I must admit I'm struggling with this and looking closely at it. I might just have to close my eyes and jump for this one. - Build a community
Working on it. its called Greenhouse Collective.com
Get there under your own steam.
I still use my work van almost every day and rarely walk to the store. Working on it. - Commit to not wasting.
A wonderful daily practice that we're talking about every day. This is surprising in its depth to change our lives, and has ever reverberating pay offs.
Take your principles to work.
A daily practice. I most enjoy talking with my customers about the small ways we can make shifts in our current lifestyles to create a greater good. - Donate a day's tv time to eco-service.
Not even close to doing it...soon though. - Believe that how you live your life makes a difference.
This is truly something I believe. I gain satisfaction in the attempt and forgive my stumbles.

Greenhouse at Green Festival.

Mayor Gavin Newsom loved our booth
Mayor Gavin Newsom showed up at the Greenhouse Collective Booth!
We had a lot of interest in Greenhouse with about 80 names added to our email list, and about 10 possible new members, so we feel the event was a great success. Thanks to all our members for their support, we will keep everyone updated and look forward to more events in the near future.
