What is Hydroseed?

Planting seeds is a strenuous and very time consuming task. This task is time consuming simply because it requires a meticulous set of procedures that are all carried out for every seed to be planted. For small plots of land, this may not be a real problem. For larger plots of land, however, this is indeed a real problem. One way to get around this problem is through the use of hydroseeding.

What is Hydroseeding?

Hydroseeding is a process in which plant seeds are mixed with mulch. The mulch that is combined with the seeds often contain other ingredients such as fiber, fertilizers, and dye. This slurry is then transported via trucks and then sprayed over large areas to encourage the growth of plants. Hydroseeding is one of the most common ways of large scale seed planting and is, in fact, still one of the most effective ways. Since it was first done, this process has been carried out by trucks, helicopters, and even airplanes.

Advantages of Hydroseeding

The advantages of hydroseeding can be seen in very large plots of land as well as in lands that have a naturally occurring slope. For large plots of land, hydroseeding helps tremendously in saving time. Hydroseeding also helps in saving significant amounts of money since labor costs will be minimal and additional materials will not be needed. For areas that have slopes, hydroseeding is advantageous since it will help greatly in controlling the erosion of the land. This helps in maximizing the planting space of the land.
